AICAR

What is AICAR?

5-Aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide ribonucleoside. Metabolized to ZMP, a direct AMP-kinase (AMPK) activator. AMPK activation mimics exercise effects: increases mitochondrial biogenesis, fatty acid oxidation, glucose uptake, and GLUT4 expression. Exercise mimetic. Run 2-4 cycles/year (5-10 days each).
